Since the 1924 Olympics, 56 Oklahoma State University Olympians have won a total of 25 medals, 21 gold, four silver, and five bronze, a majority of the medals in Wrestling
To recognize Oklahoma State University's contribution to the Olympic sport of wrestling, the Tulsa2024 Games wrestling events would be held 72 miles to the west of Tulsa at the 13,611 seat OSU Gallagher-Iba Arena on a schedule that did not conflict with Basketball or Judo.

According to IOC bid documents, the Olympic competition venue for Judo can share same arena with wrestling.
The United States National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma on the campus of Oklahoma State University (OSU).
The 2016 IOC candidate city bid package listed a minimum seating requirement for the Wrestling event at 8,000 seats, with 197 freestyle athletes, and 133 Greco Roman athletes, for a total of 330 athletes.
The Atlanta 1996 Olympics hosted freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling at the Georgia World Congress Center, with 7,300 seats. The net spectator attendance was 6,400. (See page 541, Adobe reader page 556)
Ticket sales for freestyle wrestling was 45,374. Ticket sales for Greco Roman was 45,781.
